Oval Pool Project
Oval Pools have straps that go across the center of the pool. These straps keep the sides straight. It’s important to raise the straps in the middle about a half of an inch to prevent the straps from popping up when the water goes in the swimming pool.

About this Project
This pool is a 16×32 Dynasty Swimming Pool. The pool has Triangular outriggers that extend about 30 inches from the side of the pool. Other oval pools have these buttresses below grade so you don’t see them. We call this pool a buttress oval pool. Most of our clients are building a deck around the pool so these buttresses don’t bother them.
A buttress pool is more affordable to purchase and install.
It’s very important to make sure the ground is level before building the swimming pool. We have a laser level with an indicator that tells us how high or low we are. We get the ground within a quarter of an inch.
Once the ground is level we can layout the side blocks. The directions only call for one row of blocks on each side. We go a little overkill and set two rows of blocks on each side. Those blocks are within a quarter of an inch of one another.
It’s important to layout the blocks properly or when you go to square the sides of the pool one side of the pool will be off the blocks and you’ll have to move all those blocks you worked so hard on. After we set the sides we can install the blocks for the round ends of the pool. I square the round ends of the pool before I set any blocks.
Once the blocks are set we can build the pool.
